Notice to singers 25/04/24
Dear Singers,
Thank you all who sang in the concert on Saturday, everybody I spoke to in the audience said how much they’d enjoyed it so I think we did well! Pity we didn’t have a bigger audience, I think we need to work on that going forward, ticket sales are a very important source of income…. If anyone has any good ideas about publicity or attracting new members, please do speak up.
Summer Term
Rehearsals start on Thursday 25th April, at Fairford as usual. I’ll have music to distribute so if you can turn up a bit before 7.30pm that would help. As I’ve said before, the music this term isn’t very taxing and is good fun so if you’re thinking you can’t join for the summer because you have to miss a couple of rehearsals then please think again! The concert is on June 22nd at 4pm, with a rehearsal beforehand and refreshments afterwards.
The first-guess rehearsal schedule is on the Rehearsal Schedule page of this website; be warned that Nick says “It should, however, be taken with a massive pinch of salt! Be ready for anything!”.
You can also find some rehearsal tracks on the Rehearsal Aids page. What does Nick say about those? “But I haven't checked them out”, so make your own judgments! Kate has located a YouTube performance, and you can find the link also on that same web page.
You can download the registration form for the summer term at the bottom of this page. Please can you fill it out as appropriate, both sides, and (ideally) bring it with you on Thursday with subs for this term if you’ve not paid that already. Captain Noah will be £3.50 to hire (the copies are pretty worn, this piece is clearly out of print so we have to put up with what we’re given..) and the booklet will be £1.50, but that is yours to keep after.
We are going to start selling tickets imminently for this concert, watch this space! Posters will also be ready soon I hope.
AGM
Looking ahead, the AGM will be on June 6th at 7pm, before our normal rehearsal. Please do come along even if you can’t sing in the summer term. More information will be sent out before long about the AGM. If anyone would like to join the committee as a floating member with no specific duties, we’d be very pleased to welcome you.
If you’re not singing with us for this term can I wish you a good summer break; we look forward to seeing you in September for a great term’s singing – your task this summer is to recruit another member!
