Notice to singers 12/09/24
Dear singers,
Good to get back in the swing of things and make a start on our new music, it was nice to see everyone again! Hopefully we’ll see those who couldn’t make it last week at the next rehearsal.
It is an open rehearsal next time, please feel free to encourage people to come along and give us a try if you know someone who could be persuaded! We’ll be looking at No. 2 in the Poulenc and Nos. 1 and 7 in the Rutter – always helpful to do some homework if you can.
Change of name
Thank you to those who gave me some name suggestions – please let me have any more next week, no final decision being made for a while but don’t leave it until December to suggest anything! There’s a sheet of information, about the history of our name, kindly written by Pat, so please have a read of this. You can find it below.
Refreshment rota
There’s a sheet by the registers so please sign up to do your bit for one week, thank you.
Recruitment
We keep saying how much we need to recruit new members and will keep doing so – if you’ve any ideas at all as to how or where we might attract new singers please do speak up, any ideas are better than no ideas and we’re always open to suggestions.
Rehearsal aids
There is an MP3 file of AFC singing the Aylett ‘Elegy’ in the AFC Dropbox, in the 'Choir Recordings' folder, so Mike has kindly added a link to this on the website 'Rehearsal Aids' page - here. Please have a listen to re-acquaint yourselves with this as it’s a while since we sang it, or of course have a listen if you’ve not done it before.
Bullingdon Remembrance Service
A while away yet, but we’ve been asked to sing at the Bullingdon prison remembrance service again, it’s on November 8th at 11am. More details to follow, obviously, but for the moment please do make a note of this in your diaries, it would be great if we could get a few more of us out to sing for this.
