Notice to singers 23/01/25
This week we’ll be looking at nos. 3, 4 and 7 in the Requiem and all of no.1 in the Magnificat. Please try to have a listen through again to these if you can.
Choir numbers
As you are aware, we have lost a few members recently, so we need to make a concerted effort to encourage new members to join us. There are a couple of things we’d like everybody to think about with regard to this.
Firstly, when it comes to putting up posters or flyers, in churches, post offices, supermarkets, village notice boards or wherever, we should ALL be doing this and not just thinking that someone else will be doing that job. We don’t have a Committee member dedicated to press and publicity at the moment, so this is something that all choir members could be helping with (and we’d welcome someone to join the Committee in this role if you are interested). Same applies to emailing anybody and everybody you can think of who might be interested, or even if you think they’re not interested they might know someone who is…
We (the Committee and Nick) have decided that doing a flyer drop in Fairford Leys could be a good way to advertise to the local community who we are and what we do/have done; our forthcoming concert; and more specifically, the summer term’s Musicals theme. To this end, we are looking at Saturday 22nd February, time tbc, to gather and do this. There are appx 1900 houses in Fairford Leys, so if we can get a good number of volunteers, it should be a doddle. Friends and family can be recruited to help with this too!
I will be putting out a sign-up sheet at the rehearsal for volunteers – obviously if this clashes with an existing commitment or you think that you can’t help for health reasons, that’s fine, but otherwise, please do try to sign up. As I said, if there are enough of us, it won’t take long.
Meanwhile, if any of you have any bright ideas about recruiting new people, or publicity in general, please do speak up!
See you Thursday,
Kate Atherton
